Placed a pre-order but have no idea how to heat up your food? Well, you're in the right place!
Reheating Prep: We recommend that you store tamales in the freezer when you get home if you will not be eating them for a few days. The day before you plan to eat them, transfer the tamales to the refrigerator so that they may defrost safely.
Steamer (Best Option): A steamer is the best way to heat your tamales because it helps retain their moisture! Place the tamales upright in the steamer (keep the tamales in their husks) and let steam for a minimum of 20 minutes at medium heat. If your tamales are still a little bit frozen, you will have to check back at 5 minute intervals. Continue to check on your tamales and water levels in the steamer so that they do not burn. Tamales will be soft when they are ready.
Microwave: You can heat your tamales in the microwave if necessary, but it will be easier to do so if they are completely defrosted. Please note that with this method, you will have to warm tamales in smaller quantities (no more than 3 tamales at a time). Wrap tamales in wet paper towels (keep the tamales in their husks) and place in a glass container. Cover the glass container with a lid to create steam. Turn at one minute intervals. Tamales will be soft when they are ready.
